Dwayne L. Jensen, 87, longtime resident of Iowa City, died Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the Solon Nursing and Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, April 22, 2016, at Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City, with burial at Memory Gardens Cemetery where Military Honors will be bestowed. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Thursday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service. Memorial donations can be made in Dwayne's memory to Zion Lutheran Church.

Dwayne LeRoy Jensen was born September 28, 1928, in Ringsted, Iowa the son of Peter and Anna (Christensen) Jensen. During the conclusion of WWII and also during the Korean Conflict Dwayne served his country in the United States Army. On March 21, 1950, he married Donna R. Callies in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. The couple moved to Iowa City in 1951 where Dwayne began his career at Moore Business Forms, a job he held for nearly 40 years!

Dwayne has been a longtime and active member of Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed the simple things in life: fishing, bird watching, trains, and many Sunday afternoons watching the barges on the Mississippi River. But near and dearest to his heart was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was very devoted to his grandchildren and loved taking them fishing as well as attending all of their sporting events, music concerts and performances. He also adored his great grandchildren and enjoyed spoiling them.

His family includes his wife, Donna; their children, Judy Quigley of Iowa City; Kevin Jensen (Michelle) of Iowa City; Roxanne Schomers (Rus) of Iowa City and Susan Insko (Steve) of Oceanside, CA; 8 grandchildren, Scott Jensen (Jennifer), Sarah Jensen (Mike Heinrich), Chad Jensen, Nicole Jensen, Nathan Schomers, Alex Schomers (Sarah Meade), Melissa Schomers, and Riley Insko; 5 great-grandchildren, Kendall, Kyler, Maddox, Cali, and Tessa; Dwayne's brothers, Norman and Otto Jensen both of Ringsted, IA; and his sister, Ruth Laffey of Fairmont, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Franklin Jensen.
