Tribute & Message From The Family
Beverly A. Hancock, 79, formerly of Tipton, passed away peacefully Monday, March 21, 2016 at Briarwood Healthcare Center in Iowa City.
Beverly Ann Brink was born October 11, 1936 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughter of Roy H. and Lois R. (Johnson) Brink. She graduated from Clarence High School and shortly thereafter began a life-long career with the Tipton Conservative Newspaper, where she would work until her retirement. On June 26, 1955 she married Eugene Richard 'Dick' Hancock at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She and Dick enjoyed playing bridge over their many years of marriage. Bev was also a gifted pianist who volunteered her talents at the County Home and local care centers and often delivered Meals on Wheels with her family. More recently, she especially treasured time with her family and the company of her little dog. Regular family vacations were celebrated events which included her cherished grandson and great-granddaughter.
She was a member of the Tipton First United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Tri Sigmas and Business Professional Women's Foundation.
Her family includes her two daughters, Cheryl Drager of Marshalltown and Jean Reed (Tom) of North Liberty; grandson and his wife, Jason Drager (Jessica) of Clive and great-granddaughter, Caitlin.
Bev was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Private services will be held at a later date at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Recognizing Bev's love for animals, memorials in her name may be directed to Friends of the Animals in Tipton.

Cheryl & Jean :"Renee",
With deepest sympathy to you both and your families. You were all your mothers greatest treasures. Bev was special to all of us who knew her and a friend of mine thru our years of Tri Sig's, our bowling team and the many Saturday nights playing bridge in your "jail house" home. She taught piano to our daughter and many other children. After leaving Tipton it was a joy to visit her at Walden Place. I will cherish the memories of Bev. Blessings, Peace and caring thoughts to all.

Just wanted you to know how sorry I am you lost Bev. I'm so glad you brought her to walden! Remember, she was only going to stay for the winter!! She was a classy lady and I really feel she had good last years while she was at walden! She had her own special corner apt with that darn doggie fence we put in just for her!! I'm so grateful I got acquainted with you all!! What a nice legacy she left behind. She will be missed and you have Ron and my special thoughts for you all! Ron and Jane Gast

It is with much sadness that I hear of your mom's passing away. Before she moved to Iowa City, she was one of our group that shared many good times together. Many a bridge game, or a spirited "Spite and Malice" game, or a little "nip" someplace. My regret is that we didn't see each other after she moved. My sympathies to all and may your many precious memories bring you peace and love. Love, Pat

Your Mom was such an outgoing friendly person and I enjoyed the many bridge games we played and what a gracious hostess she was. Really was surprised to see her obituary but know you will always cherish all of your memories. FAMILY meant so much to her and I know she just had to be delighted to be a great grandmother.

Bev was a year ahead of me in school..She had a beautiful soprano voice and I accompanied her many solos at contest. We also took organ lessons together when the Methodist church in Clarence bought a new organ. A very talented lady. My sympathy to all of Bev's family
