I was very fortunate to grow up and visit Laverne and Dale's happy home quite often. I'd also stop in to see them when they had the Tiffin Hardward Store. There was always interesting conversation and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. For years I would drive up the Tiffin hill past their house, and see Laverne looking out the picture window and waving at me as I made my way to my parents' farm. They gave me my wonderful best friend, Jamie, and for that they will always be very dear to my heart. I'd like to send comforting thoughts to Jamie, Rex and Sherry and their families. What a blessing to have Laverne and Dale in your thoughts and memories. Much Love, Becky (Ruppert) Conrad

For many years beginning in 1969, I enjoyed talking to Laverne when my late husband John Zug and I moved to Iowa City.
We invested in real estate and La Verne and Dale with Rex were wonderful to us. She was always a friendly gracious friend. We are sorry for your loss.

Laverne was one of the most kind, generous and non-judgemental people I've ever known. If there were more people like her in the world, the world would,t have the problems it has today. I was lucky to grow up with Laverne and her family. To see the joy she brought them and also shared with me. I enjoyed all the time I got to spend with her. We all have wonderful memories of the waving from the window in their house in Tiffin-one last time.

I have known Laverne all my life and Jim and I lived near her "On the Hill" from 1967 till she moved to North Liberty. And of course her kids were my schoolmates at the old Tiffin Independent School. As neighbors all the "hill" kids played in their yard and later grandkids came and caught fireflies in the same yard with nets we provided. This was around 1980. Most summer evenings you could drive by and wave at Dale and Laverne sitting under those 2 beautiful crab apple trees in their front yard. Laverne was such a lovely woman and friend and will stay a wonderful memory. Jim and Darla Bartels
