On June 2, 1951, she married Harry Salisbury in Casper, Wyoming and spent several years farming in South Dakota. In 1958, they would move back to Iowa to be near Vi's family. Vi worked several jobs in this area, starting with Paris Cleaners, working at the Hamburg Inn, Sheller-Globe and ultimately retiring from Dairy Queen. After retirement Vi loved daily visits to the thrift stores and garage sales. She always enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with family. She had a close relationship with her local granddaughters, Shannon and Melissa and left many life-long memories for them to cherish.

Condolence & Memory Journal

I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of Vi. She was the kindest person i have ever known. I loved to visit her in her home, she would always have good stories to share, food to serve and always had something to show from a recent visit to a garage sale or thrift store. We lived right next to her, Roland and Connie for many years. She was a wonderful neighbor and friend. She had so much energy for someone her age, she was always on the go. I know this is a very sad time for her family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sheila and Family,

I am so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. It is not easy to lose a parent; someone who you loved so much and who loved you always. Her completion of this part of life leaves sadness and tears for those who are left behind, but grief and sorrow only come with loving someone so deeply. She will be in your heart always. Please know you are all in my prayers.

I love you immensely Gramma. Give Mom a hug and kiss for me. Have fun thrift shopping up there in Heaven. I bet there's some great deals to be had. See you again someday. I miss you ♡

Memories of Vi....Shortly after I moved in down the hill from Vi and Connie and Roland we became good friends.Vi was always a generous neighbor. It was a lively time visiting, eating and laughing. Of course, the road trips were something as well.... it never took Vi very long to go from point A. to point B. She really should have been a Air Force pilot. I would often find special treasures and surprises from her frequent thrift shopping when I came home, I still have many. She shared interesting stories of her early life and adventures..... such a great gal. It was a sad day for me when they moved but I sure did appreciate the time we spent together. It was also special when she would bring her siblings, other family and friends to my house to see the gardens. The cosmos is fortunate to have her traveling through.... love to you Vi! Your friend, Jeff Cave
