Dear Mary and family,
I was so sad recently to learn of Don's passing. Like Lauren Roberts, I met Don because of his interest in bookmark collecting. He was so knowledgeable, enthusiastic and generous with his time and was an inspiration to other collectors. He was modest about his collection and research skills even though he probably had the best collection in the U.S. It was a pleasure to get to know him and learn about his interesting life. My deepest condolences to the family.

Dear Mary and family of Don,

I met Don through my now-defunct website, BiblioBuffet, and one of its columns, On Marking Books. Laine Farley and I wrote it because we both collect bookmarks, and Don somehow found it and wrote to us.

We are so sad to learn of Don's passing. He was such a sweet person big hearted, always cheerful and good natured, so proud of his family, and deeply in love with his Mary. His enthusiasm about life and his many hobbies was unbounded. We loved him and he will be missed. Condolences to Mary and the rest of his family. God bless you and comfort you.

What a beautiful summary of a great life! Thank you. I look at Uncle Don's picture and I hear his laughter. He gave great hugs, too. I will be with you in Spirit on Monday afternoon. God Bless!
My favorite memory is when he pulled up in front of our house with the Big Boy statue roped to the top of his car. Why he had it, I'm not sure...it didn't matter. To me he must have been famous to be friends with Big Boy! :)

My condolences to Mary and the rest of your family. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to become acquainted with Don after he and Mary moved to Melrose Meadows. He was a delightful person, always upbeat no matter what, and I will miss him, especially all the stories about his collection of bookmarks and how he acquired them.
