Dear Priya, Malinee, and Anjali:
James' was a great colleague and friend of the Free Radical and Radiation Biology Program at the University of Iowa. He always lived his life with courage, grace, and wisdom. It was an honor and privilege to know and work with James. He was working on a new therapy protocol for gastric cancer when he passed away. We will continue his work and hopefully open the clinical trial he wanted to see succeed in his honor.

I will miss that immensely, but I will cherish the time I was able to spend with my "Doc" forever.

We have know Jamie since he was a young man and watched and admired his strength and courage as he battled Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. The dedication to his education and his ultimate choice to become an oncologist are a testament to his goal to "pay it forward" to other cancer patients.
After reading so many of the loving and glowing tributes already submitted, it is

I am so sorry to hear of Dr. Mehzir's passing. I only met him one time and that was after her performed the Whipple surgery on my father four years ago to remove his pancreatic cancer tumor. Dr. Mehzir was kind and compassionate and my dad felt a strong bond with him, even keeping in touch after the surgery as Dad continued to fight his battle. My dad passed away in October of 2015, but I know this for a

I was deeply saddened to hear of Dr. Mezhir's passing. He was a dedicated and gifted surgeon and I enjoyed working with him. His concern for his patients was always present, and I have great respect for his strength to continue working in the face of his recurrent illness. I will miss his humor and dedication.
