This man has extended my life after 10 hours of surgery by him and his team. I owe & thank the man for my very existence who I pray for every day. It is a sad day that the good Lord reached out & took him from us. I pray that the sadness of the family is replaced by love & goodness he spreaded in short time wit us.
God Bless Darrell

I was a patient in 2013. I was so fortunate that my tumor turned out to be benign but still required 8 hours in surgery. I know that my good health is a direct result of Dr Mezhir's incredible skill. He was a wonderful person and over the last couple of years he would always respond to messages with optimism. The world list so much with his too early passing. But his life will continue on in the work he started and the many lives he touched and saved.

As a currently surviving patient of Dr. Mezhir's' skill as a surgeon (gastric cancer,,,total gastrectomy 2013) I will continue to fight for my life in his honor. Dr. Mezhir was a good man. From the moment he removed my cancer, I have never had him out of my mind. Thank you James.

May you have a forever smile on your face in Heaven, James! You were a wonderful and super fun friend to me while you were residing in Chicago. I'm sorry the years have separated our friendship as we both grew our own beautiful families and as you pursued your oh so appreciated and impressive oncology career. I will always remember the laughter and fun times we shared. Our parents are best friends and that makes us more like family. God

James was an inspiring, passionate and dedicated surgeon and teacher. I am honored and blessed to have had the opportunity to work with him and learn from him in my last year of training. His passion for learning and teaching was immediately apparent and he pushed me to be better everyday. He will always be a part of my surgeries and the many trainees and patients he has impacted. His love for you, Priya, and your beautiful family was something he talked about everyday and is undoubtedly his proudest accomplishment.
Sending prayers for strength and peace.
